Ask an advisorA taxi driver assessment is a practical driving test that many councils require before they will grant a Hackney Carriage or Private Hire licence. An assessor rides with you for around 40 minutes and checks your driving, your knowledge of the Highway Code and how you look after passengers. Green Penny is an approved assessor for more than 120 councils.
Your council licensing team will tell you which assessor to use when you apply. If Green Penny is named, you can book directly with us online or by phone, and we will send your result straight to the council.
Most people qualify as an Approved Driving Instructor in six to twelve months. You need to pass three tests set by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency: a theory test, a test of your own driving and a test of your ability to teach. Our training covers all three.
You need to have held a full car driving licence for at least three years, be over 21 and pass a criminal record check. No teaching experience is needed. We teach you everything else.
Fleet driver training looks at how your people actually drive for work. It covers hazard awareness, speed management, fuel efficient driving, vehicle checks and fatigue. Sessions take place in the vehicle, in a classroom or online, and each driver receives a written report.
Many insurers look favourably on businesses that can prove regular driver training, because trained drivers have fewer incidents and make fewer claims. Our reports give you the evidence you need.
Yes. Courses such as safeguarding, disability awareness and customer care for licensed drivers can be completed online at your own pace. You receive a certificate as soon as you finish.
